Hokie Homecoming at Virginia Tech

Virginia Tech students, families and alumni gather at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg for Hokie Homecoming on Saturday Sept. 24, 2016. 



The Highty-Tighty alumni (Tech's Core Cadet band) gather on the mall at Virginia Tech to prepare to march to the stadium before the big game. While they wait they catch up with old friends.

The crowd gets excited and claps to the familiar tune of "Enter Sandman" a Hokie tradition where the crowd shakes the stadium as they clap and jump to welcome their home team into the stadium.

DogFest 2016 -Composition

The Baltimore Humane Society (BHS) put on its annual DogFest at the BHS in Reisterstown, Md on Saturday Sept,17 2016.
Twiggy the Pug, dressed as a bumblebee gets ready to enter the event and compete in the costume competition.

Many of the dogs that await adoption are mixes and were abandoned, so the staff do not know their names or documentation for their breed type.

Cody is a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, or Toller for short. His owners say he is an avid Orioles fan from Baltimore who loves watching sports.

This little guy was just adopted and hasn't been named yet. His owners have discovered that he likes treats but he's smaller than the treat boxes.

Lancelot is a rare blue eyed Merle Cocker Spaniel. He is very curious about the camera.

Max is a two year old Yorkie. His owner Sam says Max is rather scared of all the other dogs.

Sarah Thomas from New Windsor Md. has three dogs that all want to go in different directions. Chipmunk (front left) is a French bulldog. Kendall (right) is a English Bulldog mix and Harrison (back left) is an Australian Shepherd.

June is a calm Boxer who was rescued from the Montgomery County Humane Society over a year ago.

Back to School At UMD

Junior Jocelyn Hsueh, a community assistant for Easton Hal, welcomes students back to the dorms.
Students spend the first few weeks trying to get around on campus.

Junior Justin Lieu is a Senior Finance major and one of the leaders of the group. He welcomes new students and introduces his club.

Bennet is undecided but hopes to become a business major if she does well enough in her intro math classes.
